Description

Det er tatt ut en liten blokk i veiskjæring. Grunnfargen er grønn og viser svak schillerfarge i blått. I området finnes store homogene partier med lett tilkomst. Teknisk er bergarten utmerket for bearbeiding til polerte plater ol. Ut fra sammenlignbare produkter i markedet, kan en trolig forvente et prisnivå på kr. 6000 - 8000 pr. m3.

Abstract:

I samarbeid med geolog Pål A. Thjømøe har NGU utført oppfølgende kartlegging av mulige natursteinforekomster av jotunitter ved Skjefrås, noritter på Mydland og mangeritt på og omkring Mydland. Fra alle disse områdene er det tatt ut små blokk for sage- og poleringstester. Resultatene viser at tekniske egenskaper, homogenitet og blokkstørrelse er tilfredsstillende for jotunittene og mangeritten, mens norittene er for innhomogene og oppsprukket til bruk som naturstein.
