Finnkåteng-forekomsten (250 m.o.h.) ligger 500 m vest for Veseråli/Vesteråga-forekomsten. Den sydlige sjenkel i synformen er den tykkeste; derfor er dagbruddet fra omfoldingen i øst og 600 m vestover. Lagrekken i Finnkåteng er: Øverst 50 m dolomitt 30 m kalkspatmarmor 50 m lys glimmerskifer 0,1-1 m granatfels 10-50 m hematittmalm 1-3 m lys glimmerskifer 12 m kalkglimmerskifer 50 m kalkspatmarmor Nederst ca.20 m dolomitt I sydsjenkelen varierer tykkelsen av malmen fra 30-50 m, mens nordsjenkelen er ca. 10 m tykk. Man finner langs hele sydsjenkelen en skiferbenk med uregelmessige utposninger i malmen. Skiferbenken er stedvis granatfels-førende, og mot vest er det flere spisse isoklinalfolder som gjør at malmen er sterkt oppstykket. Sydsjenkelen har strøk 270° og malmfall 80-90° mot nord, strøklengde 1,3 km. Granatfels er meget karakteristisk i overliggende lys glimmerskifer, dvs. like over Finnkåteng-malmen. Felsen er lys rødlig, lys gul og brun. Den brune granatfelsen har et høyt epidot-innhold og kan kalles granat-epidot-fels. Gjenværende underjordsmalm er 10 mill. tonn til nivå 50 langs en 1 km lang strøklengde. Dagbruddsmalmen (10,7 mill.t) ble tatt ut 1971-80. Gruva ble i malm-omfoldingen i øst drevet til nivå 150, og er idag fyllt med vann til vivå 185. I tillegg er det drevet ut 15,3 mill. t gråberg som med sp.v. 1,7 (steintipp) gir 9,0 m3 gråbergstipp. Det er diamantboret 12935 m i Finnkåteng i perioden 1967-70. Råmalmgehalten er (%): 37,4 % Fe-total, 3,9 % Fe-magn., 0,21 % P, 0,008 % S, 0,21 % TiO2, 0,16 % MnO, 0,48 % Na2O og 0,49 % K2O. Forholdet hematitt/magnetitt = 89,6/10,4 = 8,6. Tonnasje: 20,7 mill. t. Og mineralogien (vekt%): 47,9 % hematitt, 5,4 % magnetitt, 26,1 % kvarts, 4,8 % epidot, 4,6 % kloritt, 3,2 % amfibol, 1,0 % oligoklas, 1,0 % biotitt, 1,0 % muskovitt, 1,1 % apatitt, 0,1 % granat og 0,015 % svovelkis. |
