The iron formation at Fagernesfjellet is not easy to find due to the dense vegetation, but the location is well described by Blomlie (2012). The deposit is situated in a steep hill-side just above the Narvik harbour. A water-filled adit with the orientation 120 is performed, and part of the iron formations can be studied (but not very well) in the walls by the entrance. The iron formation consists of 0.5 to 1 m thick zones of disseminated to massive fine grained magnetite in an amphibole and biotite rich matrix (Samples JSFE1413/14) in biotite-rich schist. Minor mm-thin bands of pyrite occur in the iron formation.
