Minor trenches have been made along the iron formation at Svarthullet east of Ramsund village, early last century. The major trench is 20 m long, 2 m wide and up to 3 m high. In the central part of the trench outcrops 30-35 cm thick, massive magnetite with thin bands of calcite and chlorite (Sample JSFE1421/22). On both side of the iron formation, 2-3 dm thick bands of chlorite schist are exposed. The iron formation is located in a sequence of amphibolite (Sample JSFE1420) with 0.5-1 m thick layers of calcitic marble. Two minor trenches are found nearby, but they are completely overgrown.

40 m sør for den store røskegrøfta er en røskegrop uten tipp. Ingen blotning i røsken, men få meter under, i elva, er det blottet 3 m mektig fin- til middelskornet amfibolitt, så 1 m mektig middelskornet hvit kalkspatmarmor med underliggende amfibolitt.
