| Mineraliseringen ble påvist i 1983 av BP Norge A/S Minerals ved oppfølging av bekkesedimentanomalier i forbindelse med regionale gullundersøkelser i Helgeland (samarbeid med Norsk Hydro). Hovedforekomsten opptrer langs en kløft på ryggen av Jamtfjellet. Den ble undersøkt med kjerneboring i 1984. 5 hull med total lengde på 379 m ble boret. Berggrunnen i området består av biotittgneiser med innhold av granat og utvikling av leukosom-årer. De gjennomsettes av tynne granittganger som ofte er sterkt migmatittiske. Gneisen fører tynne soner av amfibolitt, kvartsitt og marmor, likeledes "en echelon"-systemer av kvartslinser (0,1-1,0 m brede og opptil 40 m lange. Aksen til gangsystemene varierer mellom N120°Ø og N130°Ø. Gull-arsenkismineralisering finnes langs kontakten av enkelte kvartslinser i tre av disse gangsystemene, hvor linsene er fragmentert i forbindelse med senere skjærdeformasjon. I den østlige og vestlige del av hovedforekomsten er ganglinsene dels utviklet som kvartsbreksjer som i de mineraliserte partier viser serisitt- og kloritt-omvandling av breksjefragmenter og omkringliggende biotittgneiser. Mineraliseringen består hovedsaklig av fin- til middelskornet arsenkis og svovelkis samt stedvis blyglans og kobberkis. Sulfidene danner disseminerte striper og sprekkefyllinger i kvartsen langs gneiskontakten og dels disseminasjon i de omvandlete gneisene langs gangkontakten og i fragmentene. Hovedforekomstens ganglinser har strøk/fall 78/55 (vestlinse), 81/80 (sentrallinse) og 81/75 - 105/68 (østlinsene). I det Søndre gangsystem har linsene str./fall mellom 290°-320°/65°-75°. Mineraløiseringen tilsvarer den i hovedforekomsten, men er mye svakere og fører kun sidesteinsomvandling. |

| The principal geological and tectonostratigraphic divisions of the bedrock within the area of mapsheet Mosjøen are: (1) Precambrian basement rocks with minor occurrences of possible Cambrian cover sediments, (2) the Susendalen Nappe, (3) the Seve-Køli Nappe Complex, (4) the Rødingsfjell Nappe, and (5) the Helgeland Nappe Complex. Short accounts of economic geology (ores and industrial minerals) are given. |
