Forekomsten ble påvist av BP Norge A/S Minerals i forbindelse med regional prospektering etter gull i Helgeland og oppfølging av gullanomalier i grønnfjellområdet. Mineraliseringen er knyttet til en hydrotermal gang som stryker langs midten av Sørlielva. Gangen er 20-35 cm bred og kan følges over en strening på 50 m. Den består av kvarts med en sentralsone (10-20 cm bred) av hvit kalkspat. Sulfidene som hovedsakelig omfatter svovelkis er knyttet til kvartsranden av gangen og dens silifiserte og kvartsårete sidestein. Sulfidene finnes som disseminasjon og sprekkebelegg i disse partier. Sidesteinen omfatter fin- middelskornet og foliert dioritt-gabbro med gjennomsettende granittganger. Gangen skifter stedvis retning eller forgrenes. På dise steder når mineraliseringen mektigheter på 0,5-0,6 m. |

Abstract: | |
The various lithologies are described. These comprise granitic basements rocks of supposed Pre-Cambrian age and Cambro-Silurian supracrustals and intrusives. The intrusives are mostly found within the Bindal and Velfjord massifs. These massifs are younger than the supracrustals, but their mutual age relationship is uncertain. Tectonically the rocks are sitated in "the high metamorphic nappe-complex" of central and western Helgeland. The supracrustal rocks have undergone at least three phases of Caledonian folding, the F2 phase producing the main regional structures. The rocks have mineral assemblages which place them in the almandine-amphibolite metamorphic facies. |
