Skjerpet består av en V-Ø orientert, vannfylt skråsynk med sidevegger på 5 x 12 m og 2-4 m ned til vann-nivå. Det ligger i tett granskog, 50 m vest for ei myr mellom Gruvdammen i nord og Bjørtjønna i sør. En relativt stor tipp med volum på 5-600 m2 viser at synken må være relativt dyp, men McQueen (1983) anslår produksjonen å bare være noen hundre tonn. Forekomsten ligger i den stratigrafisk nedre delen av grønnsteinsekvensen og antagelig på samme nivå som Dragset. En massiv sulfidsone er ikke synlig, men prøver av denne er godt representert på tippen. Malmen ligner Dragsetforekomsten og både båndet, sinkblenderik og dels kobberkisrik malm finnes. Massiv pyrittmalm med kvartsrik matriks har lavere basemetallinnhold. En mindre tilførselssone er også anriket på sink ifølge McQueen (1983).
