Skåkåsgruva befinner seg drøyt 200 m sør for veien inn til Skåkåsvollen, like sør for langstrakt myrområde. Gruva eller skjerpet består av en ca. 20 m lang grøft i SV retning (230 grader) som generelt er veldig overgrodd. I øst er grøfta ca. 1 m dyp, mens de vestligste 7-8 m er vannfylte og ender i en skråsynk. Tippvolumet anslås til ca. 200 kbm. Mineraliseringen er ikk synlig eller tilgjengelig i fastfjell. På tippen sees stripet og sliret mineralisering bestående i hovedsak av semimassiv magnetkis (pyrrhotitt) med aksessorisk til underordnet kobberkis og sinkblende, samt aksessorisk pyritt og blyglans. Sulfidstripene opptrer i en kvartsrik bergart med underordnet kloritt. Blokker på tipphaugen viser at malmsonen hvertfall stedvis har hatt en mektighet på opptil 0.5 m.
