Enkleste adkomst er å følge Axelveien som er en tursti sørover fra gården Havdal. Det er sprengt en 2 m høy og 2,5 m dyp halvsirkel i en vestvendt skråning. Berggrunnen i skjæringen domineres av silisifisert grønnstein som dels kan ligne felsisk metavulkanitt, og nederst i denne finnes middelskornet, noe omvandlet metadoleritt. Begge bergartene er sterkt rustfarget og fører svak disseminasjon av svovelkis.
