Skjerpet Øvre Løkje er lett å finne på vestsiden av en bekk og god sti opp fra gruveveien til Jernsmauget og Dyråsen. Skjerpet er et innhugg på sørsiden av en liten åsside med en vannfylt synk. Innhugget er ca. 3.5x3.5 m i omriss. Det er en temmelig overgrodd tipphaug på ca. 200 kbm ved skjerpet. Synken er dekket av en treplatting med store steiner på (utrygt). Mineralisering finnes i hele innhuggets bredde, men svært varierende i innhold av sulfider. Den består av tynne, cm-dm tykke slirer med impregnasjon til semimassiv pyritt som er mm-kornet, i hovedsak i kvarts-sericittskifer, men også enkelte soner med mørk grønn klorittskifer. Kobberkis opptrer aksessorisk. Mineraliseringen er i stor grad konsentrert til skjerpet og forsvinner fort vekk fra dette. Vertsbergarten er en kvarts-sliret, deformert grønnskifer. Foliasjonen i bergarten er nord-østlig med fall mot sørøst: 030/55 grader.
