Gravdal VMS deposit is located along the contacts between metabasalt and minor bodies of feldspar porphyric rhyodacite, at the same stratigraphic level as Valaheien deposit on Varaldsøy in the Ølve-Varaldsøy Group. The ore body has a thickness 0.5 to 2.5 m and is a fine grained pyritic banded ore with minor amounts of chalcopyrite. The mine was connected to a harbour by the fiord by a 0.8 km long tunnel. The ore body outcrops at 170 m.a.s.l. and the tunnel is located at 50 m.a.s.l. by the mine.

Undersøkelsesstoll ca. 40 m lang på tvers av strøket. Går sørøstover fra gruveveien. Lengst inne ca. 20-30 cm sone med kvarts-kloritt-(sericitt) med spredt pyritt. Sannsynligvis fortsettelsen av malmsonen.
