The mine pit is situated on a steep slope that starts from a rock plateau featuring a powerline. It consists of a 4H3m deep pit at the bottom of a 10-15m wide steep ledge. The main rock over the pit is dominated by medium to coarse grained granitic gneiss, with a few mafic bands. The host rock in the tailings is difficult to identify: it is partly intensely folded, partly brecciated and usually rusted, but presumably represents an altered and deformed gabbroic lense in the gneiss. It contains irregular, 5-10cm thick lenses of massive pyrrhotite with minor chalcopyrite (samples 01,04). In addition, sulphides occur in aggregates as well as disseminated in plagioclase-biotite " garnet rock (sample 02) and in fine grained gabbro (sample 03).
