The Seljeåsen deposit is located at the eastern margin of the Seljeåsen troctolite massif. The bulk of the Fe-Cu-Ni mineralization is contained within a pyroxenite band and towards contacts with large xenoliths of gneiss. The mineralized zone consists of disseminated to network and partly massive ore in a c. 1m thick zone of pyrrhotite with subordinate chalcopyrite and cobalt-bearing pentlandite. Niether the mining history, tonnage or extent of the mineralization is known from this deposit. During the Falconbridge/Blackstone exploration campaign they drilled extensively the occurrence. Geophysical indications and the existence of a significantly larger mafic/ultramafic intrusion than at the other known Bamble deposits, indicated a potential which was, however, not confirmed by the drilling. |
