Forekomsten ligger rett på nordøstsida av veien mellom Kviteseid og Mostøyl, dvs. inngangen til en stoll med retning 60º opptrer i veiskjæringa. Stollen er vannfylt bak noen større blokker foran inngangen. På sørvestsida av veien, ned mot en bekk finnes rester av tippen under veifyllinga. Forekomsten utgjør den vestlige delen av Dalane gruver og dens historie er nærmere beskrevet under den. I SØ-veggen av stollen finnes finkornet, grågrønn amfibolitt, dels med karbonatfylte tensjonsspekker i cm-skala. I stolltaket opptrer middelskornet, feltspatførende, kvartsitt eller felsisk metavulkanitt med små kobbertråder. Det er vanskelig å påvise kobbermineralisering på tippen som virker godt gjennomsøkt av mineralsamlere.
