Den eksakte lokalisering av denne forekomsten er noe usikker tilgjengelig litteratur gir følgende beskrivelse: I den ytre del av Langesundsfjorden, på den midrte del av øyene Arøya og Stokkøya. er en Thorium mineralisering påvist i grensesonen mellom kambrosilur sedimenter og larvikitt. Den anrikedede sone er breksijert og thorium innholdet er målt til å være høyest der bergarten er jernholdig og oksydert. De høyeste verdier er målt til 1500-2000 g/t ThO2. gjennomsnittet er betydelig lavere. Den samme sonen innheolder et REE inhold som er 1-2 ganger thorium. Det opperes også med forekomster av Thoritt (orangitt) i nefelinsyenittpegmatitter på Stokkøya; muligens dreier det seg om to forekomster Arøya of spesielt Stokkøya er tett bebygde med hytter, Det mineraliserte området er lite Utifra dette kan en si at denne forekomsten er av liten interesse.

Abstract:

In this short publication is mentioned what we today know on uranium and thorium in Norway. U occurs accessory in gneisses and granites, dispersed in Cambrian shales, associated with quartz and calcite in brecciated zones, and on secondary veins of quartz and at last in pegmatites. Th is found in the syenite and nefelinsyenite rocks of the Oslo region, in the common feldspar-quartz quarries, but the most important deposit is Rødberget near to Ulefoss. The Rødberget also contains up to 3 % Ce-earth and app. 0,1 % Nb2O5. With the prices on U and Th today, it is not possible to quarry U and/or Th economically alone from known Norwegian deposits today. A list of all minerals containing more than 0,1 % U and/or Th found in Norway are placed at the end.
