Skjerpet ligger i bjørkeskogen, 7-800 meter sør for Nordervollen. Det går en merket sti rett øst for skjerpet. Skjerpet er gjenfylt i nyere tid, så det er vanskelig å anslå størrelsen på arbeidene. Gjenværende tippvolum anslås til ca. 250 m3. Det kan synes å ha vært to synker innenfor gjerdet. Den ene gjenfyllingen er ca. 8 m lang, utstrakt i nord-sør retning. Folldal Verk AS sammen med oljeselskapet AMOCO gjorde undersøkelser i området i form av bakkegeofysikk, jordprøvetaking og tre borhull ble satt ned i området pga. av disse undersøkelsene. Borhullene var alle negative, og gjennomskar grafitt- skifer med sulfider. Det finnes ingen blotninger av mineralisert sone. Det meste av tippmaterialet består av klorittskifer, som er kraftig linjert og med spredte streker av kobberkis og magnetkis (prøve HE0136.01). I klorittskiferen opptrer opptil 10 cm tykke lag av kvarts med brun karbonat og som inneholder rik impregnasjon til semimassiv mineralisering av pyritt, dels i form av mm til cm-tykke bånd i kvartsen (prøver HE0136.03 og 04). Pyritt varierer i kornstørrelse fra meget finkornet til opptil 0.5 cm anhedrale korn. Omgivende bergart er epidotsliret klorittskifer, høyst sannsynlig metabasalt.

Comment :Strongly lineated chlorite schist with abundant elongated (up to 2 cm) lenses of pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite. 1-2 mm amphibole needles are quite common.

Comment :3-4 cm quartz layer in chlorite schist with aggregates of fine-grained pyrite. Some mm-pyrite laminae also in the schist. Abundant mm grains and aggregates of brown carbonate.
