Forekomsten ligger i bunnen av elvedalen på vestsida av Russu og 400 m nord for brua over elva. En 14 m lang dagstoll går inn fra elvebredden mot vest. Den er 5 m høy lengst i vest, og åpningen til en stoll som i følge Berg (1917) skal være 50-60 m lang er trolig gjenrast. Stollen ble påbegynt av bergassessor Spinzig, men arbeidene ble avsluttet ved starten av 1. verdenskrig. Malmsonen er derfor ikke tilgjengelig i dag. I dagstollen kan tektonostratigrafien til de tilnærmet flattliggende sideebergartene studeres. Nederst finnes kvarts-glimmerskifer som pålagres av 1-2 m mektig, finkornet amfibolitt. Den er dels klorittisert og fører svak magnetkis disseminasjon. På toppen i veggen i dagstollen ligger kvartsitt med smale (opptil 10 cm) linser av massiv magnetkis i den nedre delen. Det er sannsynlig at dette nivået representerer malmnivået. Massiv, middelskornet magnetkis med varierende innhold av kobberkis er dominerende malmtype på tippen (prøve .03). Kobberkis opptrer i linser og smale bånd i magnetkisen dels sammen med sinkblende (prøve .01). De ulike malmineralene finnes i ulike bånd med glimmerrike bånd (2-4 mm) i mellom (prøve .02).

Abstract:
Rapporten beskriver følgende forekomster: - Sæterfjellets kisfelt som opptrer som en rekke ganger med stor regelmessighet og med mektigheter fra en til ti meter. Malmmineraliseringen er kobberholdig svovelkis. - Sandfjellets kisfelt, forekomstene er lite undersøkt. - Løken, Estermoen og Orkelbogen er et ca 10 km langt felt med betydelige mektigheter.

Caledonian sulphide deposits and minor iron-formations from the southern Trondheim region, Norway.

Abstract:
Within the southern and central parts of the Trondheim region of the Norwegian Caledonides a great number of small, stratabound cupriferous pyrite deposits are confined to mafic metavolcanics of the Gula, Støren and Fundsjø Groups of the Lower Palaeozoic succession. The deposits occuring within, or in close contact with the metavolcanics are characterized by their association with minor manganiferous oxide/silicate iron-formations - better known as "vasskis" ore type - within the metamorphic low-grade areas. The iron-fprmations of the metamorphic higher grade terrains on the other hand, which are extensively developed within the Gula Group, are mostly of a pyrrhotitic sulphide/silicate type and sulphurization processes are thought to have played an important role during the metamorphism. The pyrite deposits occurring adjacent to the metavolcanics bear no relationship to the iron-formations. They are embedded in pelitic, often carbonaceous assemblages (Gula Group) or within tuffitic members of the volcanogene Støren Group, and they are thought to represent re-sedimented (reworked) deposits. The pyrite deposits display varying degree of metamorphic reconstitution and a tectonic control has apparently determined their disc- or ruler-shaped morphology.
