Forekomsten ligger rett over skoggrensa i 1000 m's høyde i sørskråningen av Veslehøa. Den ligger på østsida av Rødalen, og det er god utsikt over til Rødalsforekomsten (HE0132) på motsatt side av dalen. Forekomsten er registrert av Nilsen (1978), men det er ikke kjent når det ble skjerpet i området. Forekomsten ligger i metavulkanitter som har vært korrelert med Hersjøformasjonen (=Fundsjøgruppen) (Nilsen & Wollf 1989), men det er noe usikkert hvilken enhet de tilhører. Den antas å være uten økonomisk interesse siden både på grunn av liten størrelse og lavt basemetallinnhold. Hovedskjerpet består av en vannfylt synk med vegger på 5x2,5 m. I nordveggen av synken er blottet sulfidmineralisert kvartskeratofyr. Sulfidmineraliseringen er 1-2 m mektig og er orientert 208°/70°. Den består av semi-masssive bånd (cm-skala) med pyritt i kvartskeratofyr, dels i tilknytning til kvartslinser (prøve HE0132.01-.02 fra tippen). Svakere disseminasjon av pyritt og magnetkis forekommer i kloritt/amfibol-rik kvartskeratofyr (HE0132.03). Sterkt småfoldet (foldeakse 30°/45°) , klorittrik grønnstein med svak sulfiddisseminasjon ligger under kvartskeratofyren i øst. Den intense folding i området demonstreres også i blotninger nord for synken. I heng av sulfidsona finnes kvartskeratofyr med grovkornete amfibolnåler. Skjerpet ligger ca. 50 m sørvest for synken og like under skoggrensen. Det fører tilsvarende sulfidmineralisering som i synken. Årer og smale bånd av pyritt forekommer i sterkt foldet kvartskeratofyr. Få kobberkiskorn er også observert. Langs vestsida av skjerpet dominerer klorittrik skifer. Bergartene er sterkt forvitret.

Abstract:
Within the southern and central parts of the Trondheim region of the Norwegian Caledonides a great number of small, stratabound cupriferous pyrite deposits are confined to mafic metavolcanics of the Gula, Støren and Fundsjø Groups of the Lower Palaeozoic succession. The deposits occuring within, or in close contact with the metavolcanics are characterized by their association with minor manganiferous oxide/silicate iron-formations - better known as "vasskis" ore type - within the metamorphic low-grade areas. The iron-fprmations of the metamorphic higher grade terrains on the other hand, which are extensively developed within the Gula Group, are mostly of a pyrrhotitic sulphide/silicate type and sulphurization processes are thought to have played an important role during the metamorphism. The pyrite deposits occurring adjacent to the metavolcanics bear no relationship to the iron-formations. They are embedded in pelitic, often carbonaceous assemblages (Gula Group) or within tuffitic members of the volcanogene Støren Group, and they are thought to represent re-sedimented (reworked) deposits. The pyrite deposits display varying degree of metamorphic reconstitution and a tectonic control has apparently determined their disc- or ruler-shaped morphology.
