The deposit is situated about 100 meter from the road, at Nord-Værnes. A 50 meter long trench is what is visible from the former mining period (about 1920). The graphite bearing rock is part of an unit of supracrustal rocks that occur as large lenses and layers a long the whole of the Nord-Værnes peninsula. Airborne geophysics show the extent of these supracustals. Graphite bearng rocks can be found and several localities also on the western end of the peninsula. The graphite ore is coarse crystalline and flaky, grades vary from 4 to about 16% of graphitic carbon.

Jack-straw-textured olivines in some Norwegian metaperidotites.
;Norsk geologisk forening;TIDSSKRIFTARTIKKEL;Norsk geologisk tidsskrift; No.66 (4);271-276 pages
Abstract:
Jack-straw-textured olivines, which are elongate olivines of metamorphic origin, occur in complexly metamorphosed ultramafites within the Norwegian Caledonides. The ultramafic bodies are lenses enclosed within high-grade mica-shists or gneisses. In generally they consist of a dunitic core sur- rounded by massive olivine orthopyroxenite with a mantle of jack-straw-textured olivines in contact with the country rocks. The jack-straw olivines are elongate, radomly orientated platy crystals from 3 cm to 1 m long. They lie in a matrix of orthopyroxene, carbonate and minor tremolite. Field relations between various rock-types, including jack-straw textured olivine + carbonate + talc +/ bronzite veins, are well exposed at the Nordvernes ultramafic body, North Helgeland.

Helicopter-borne magnetic, electromagnetic and radiometric geophysical survey in Holandsfjorden area, Meløy, Nordland
;Norges geologiske undersøkelse;RAPPORT;NGU-rapport; No.2013.043;26 pages
Abstract:
NGU conducted an airborne geophysical survey in Holandsfjorden area in July 2013 as part of the MINN project. This report describes and documents the acquisition, processing and visualization of recorded datasets. The geophysical survey results reported herein are 1006 line km, covering an area of 200 km2.

Oppfølgende grafittundersøkelser i Meløy og Rødøy kommuner, Nordland
;Norges geologiske undersøkelse;FAGRAPPORT;NGU-rapport; No.2014.046;63 pages
