Forekomsten ligger like ved veien på sydsiden av Morfjorden. I veiskjæringen sees et flere hundre meter bredt belte av rusten skifrig bergart som inneholder lokale linser av grafitt. Det har vært drevet en stoll på ca. 30 m lengde på en ca. 2 m bred steiltstående grafittskifer. Grafittmalmen har et gjennomsnittlig karboninnhold på 18.44%. Befaring i 2012 viser at grafittmineraliseringen kan følges med EM 31 under overdekkning ca. 100 meter under overdekkning. Mineraliseringen finnes også i fastfjell ca. 300 meter i strøkretning mot syd, her sees det flere tynne bånd med grafittskifer over en bredde på ca. 15 meter. Det mineraliserte område er derfor my større en tidligere antatt. For å anslå ekstakt utbredelse av malmen, må det gjøres detaljerte bakke geofysiske målinger, slik som anbefalt av NGU første gang i 1952 Rønning et al 2019 har estimert reservene til å være 676000 tonn med gehalt 18.5 % TC.

Abstract:

Several potential graphite occurrences in Vesterålen were selected for follow-up work based on helicopter-borne geophysical data. The purpose for this is to confirm the existence of the graphite and next to briefly evaluate the quality and quantity of the graphite-bearing structures. The goal for the project, which is sponsored by Nordland county administration, is to increase the knowledge of each individual graphite occurrence. By doing so, the interest in graphite prospecting in Northern Norway may increase, effective prospecting can be implemented, and land planning can be developed with appropriate regard for areas with potential for economic graphite.

Denne lokaliteten ligger ca. 400 meter syd for hovedforekomsten i strøkretning, Det er sannsynlig at mineraliseringen er mer eller mindre sammenhengene over denne avstanden. ved lokaliteten sees en ca. 20 meter bred sone med flere 10-15 cm tykke bånd av grafittskifer
