Kvenvik skjerp ligger nede i Kvenvika like ved veien ut mot Kvenviknes, en sidevei til veien fra E6 og ut til Simanes. Forekomsten ble sannsynligvis funnet under gruvedrifta i Kåfjord, uten at vi kan si dette sikkert. Det er drevet en 1-1.5 m bred skjæring, omlag 5 m høg og 20 m lang. Det er også drevet ned en sjakt (nå fylt med vatn). To mindre røsker finnes i forlengelsen av skjæringen mot øst, og en gjengrodd grøft 180 m øst for skjæringen. Mineraliseringen finnes i en intenst foldet kalkspatgang med ØNØ-retning og fall 80° mot nord omgitt av en massiv metagabbro. I tillegg til den foldete hvite kalkspaten, finnes sulfider langs foliasjonen. Sulfidene er hovedsakelig svovelkis, med noe kobberkis. |
