The Bidjovagge gold-copper consists of several lens-shaped ore bodies over a strike length of 2.5 km: 13 of these have been mined, in two periods. Mining in the period 1971–1975 by Fangel & Co and A/S Sydvaranger produced 430,000 t of ore, yielding 23,000 t copper concentrate. Outokumpu Co mined 1.95 Mt ore with average grades of 1.2 % Cu and 4 g/t Au in the second mining period, 1985–1991. The Bidjovagge area comprises a sequence of tuffites, graphitic schist and carbonates intruded by doleritic sills Two periods of mineralisation has been identified. An early stage of gold mineralisation within brittle-ductile structures pre-dates the syenodioritic dikes, and a late copper-rich stage within brittle structures. The gold mineralisations occur in albite felsites where the graphitic schist has been oxidized along dilatational structures in the shear zone. Further drilling has been carried out in the northernmost part of the mining area lately, and some positive intersections have been recorded. Marginal ore at the dump from the previous mining comprises 0.3 Mt with 1.8 ppm Au and 0.6 % Cu (Arctic Gold 2010). The Bidjovagge deposit can be classified as orogenic gold with atypical metal association as are common in Palaeoproterozoic supracrustal belts in the Fennoscandian shield. Indicated resources published by Arctic Minerals on 15.12.2021: 3.3 Mt @ 1.27 g/t Au and 0.97 % Cu |

Abstract: | |
Cu-Au-forekomsten Bieddjuvag'gi ligger i Cas'kejasgruppen. |

Samtolkning av geodata i Kautokeino-Masi-området |

Abstract: | |

The geology of the Bidjovagge mining field, western Finnmark, Norway. |
;Norsk geologisk forening;TIDSSKRIFTARTIKKEL;Norsk geologisk tidsskrift; No.59 (4);327-336 pages |
Abstract: | |
The Cu-mineralizations in Bidjovagge occur in the Caskias-Stuorajaure group which consists of green-, hornblende-, and graphitic schists, greenstones, and plagioclase-carbonate rocks. Amphibolites and diabases of presumably intrusive origin are common. The mineralizations are localized to fels and carbonaceous schist in the limbs of an anticline striking N-S and dipping 15-30° north. The ore minerals are chalcopyrite, pyrite, and pyrrhotite occurring as impregnation and in veins, occasionally with galena, sphalerite, and magnetite. The best ore is C, consisting of three ore bodies with total reserves of approximately 2.3 million ton ores with 1.5% Cu. |

Abstract: | |
A complex titanium mineral containing abundant vanadium, and iron is described. The distribution of minor cerium, yttrium and scandium characterizes the two phases of which the mineral is comprised. As associate minerals occur thortveitite, vanadio-rutile, vanadiochrome spinel, gadolinite, and euxinite. Microscopic, analytic (including microprobe), X-ray powder, an other data are given. |

Abstract: | |
In the Precambrian rocks of Finnmarksvidda, one big copper deposit, Biddjovagge, and a series of small sulphide occurrences are located. The sulphides are pyrite, chalkopyrite and phyrrhotite, in some places also bornite and chalcocite. The ore deposits at Biddjovagge are formed in brecciated parts of tight anticlines, the other occurences are disseminations, either within, or at the contacts of various greenstones. Most abundant, however, are quartz-carbonate-sulphide veins within the same rocks. Granitic rocks occur at some distance, but the field relations indicate a closer genetic relationship between the ores and some late orogenic gabbroic intrusives. |
