Malmlinsene ligger i 610-673 moh. I slike høyder er det gode blotninger, dessuten er det 4 røskegrøfter, slik at malmlinsene godt lar seg beregne. Lagningen er oftest flat. Tonnasje moh. Abstract:
Geologisk hører Salangfeltets forekomster til den nordlandske marmor- glimmerskifergruppe, og jernmalmen inngår som bergartsdannende ledd i lagrekken som hovedsaklig består av glimmerskifer og marmor. Jernmalmleienes mektighet og ertsføring veksler meget sterkt fra sted til sted. Ertsmineralene består av magnetitt og hematitt i vekslende forhold. Salangenfeltets største forekomst - Storhaugen - Reinhaugen - ligger 5 - 6 km fra sjøen og 650 m.o.h. Malmen der har form av en stor mulde og har en utstrekning av 1600 m med en bredde av 300 - 400 m, mektigheten ligger mellom 10 og 40 m med 30 m i gjennomssnitt. Gehalten ble bestemt til 30 % Fe (gj. snitt av 30 analyser), dertil 0,25 % P, 0,10 - 0,15 % S og 0,1 - 0,5 % Mn. Ved fraskeiding av ca 15 % uholdig bergart skulle malmen kunne bringes opp til 32 a 33 % Fe, og man regnet med ca. 3 t. malm pr. t. slig.

Abstract:
Rapporten er et svarbrev fra statsgeolog Arth. O Poulsen til Fylkesarbeidskontoret i Troms angående situasjonen ved det da nedlagte Salangsverket (jernmalmgruver med oppredningsverk). Av brevet framgår at Fylkeskartkontoret vil vite om undersøkelser/ kartleging av malmforekomstene ved verket kan utføres, men dette blir frarådet av statsgeolog Poulsen inntil savnet arkivmateriale (særlig karter) fra driftstiden er fremskaffet og vurdert.
