Vesletron nikkelskjerp befinner seg på den nordlige delen av fjellryggen Vesletron, drøyt 900 m over havet. Enkleste adkomst er kanskje via sti fra Brottvangen ved Tronsvangen nord for Tronfjellet. Stien går fram til skjerpene og avstanden er knapt 3 km. Skjerpene er foreløpig ikke befart av NGU, så det følgende er basert på undersøkelsene gjort av A/S Sulfidmalm i 1970 og 1971. Det er to vannfylte synker i området, med ca. 45 m avstand orientert NØ-SV. Hovedsynken har en utstrekning på 7x5 m og er minst 5 m dyp. Den er laget i en ca. 5 m bred rustsone som synes å ha strøk N65 grader Ø og fall 45 grader. Vertsbergarten er en fin- til middelskornet metagabbroisk bergart, dels massiv og dels foliert sammen med lysere mer sure, skifrige bergarter. Noe grønnstein synes også å være til stede. 20 m mot nordøst er det sprengt litt i en rusten blotning mens synk 2 ligger ytterligere drøyt 20 m mot øst. Det skal også være rustne blotninger 65 m og 185 m mot vest som dels har vært sprengt i. Dette gjør at mineraliseringen kan følges mer eller mindre sammenhengende over en strøklengde på mer enn 200 m. Mineraliseringen består av massiv magnetkis med noe kobberkis og disseminasjon av vesentlig magnetkis i metagabbroisk bergart. Et tynnslip fra den nordlige synken bestod av plagioklas og amfibol med underordnet epidot, mens et polerslip av mineralisering med 50 % sulfider inneholdt 40 % magnetkis, 5 % pentlanditt+ bravoitt, 2 prosent kobberkis og noe magnetitt. A/S Norsulfid analyserte to prøver av massiv malm, en fra hver av synkene. Prøven fra den sørligste (57a) inneholdt 1.18% Ni, 0.19 % Co, 0.37 % Cu og 30 % S, mens den nordligste (57c) inneholdt 0.88 % Ni, 0.14 % Co, 0.88 % Cu og 18 % S. En prøve av disseminert mineralisering fra den nordlige synken (57c II) inneholdt 0.13 % Ni, 0.018 % Co, 0.11 % Cu og 2.4 % S.
