Flatskarvåsen-skjerpene ligger ute på stor åpen torvmyr 1.3 km rett vest for Fredrik IV gruve (HE0137). Det er drevet ned tre grunne synker/groper fordelt på to områder. Den nordligste er 5 m lang og 3 m bred og er vannfylt. To rustsoner sees i nordkanten av gropen, henholdsvis 20 og 50 cm brede. Neste grop ligger ca. 10 m SV for ovenfornevnte og består av en vannfylt 9 m lang og opptil 5 m bred røskegrøft og er antakelig ikke dypere enn 1 m. Tippvolumet ved siden av disse to gropene er beskjedent, ca. 20 m3. Den tredje synken ligger 20 m vest (retning 290 grader) for de to første. Denne består av en vannfylt synk 4x3 m i omriss. Dybden er også her beskjeden, utfra et tippvolum på ca. 30 m3. Mineralisering består av magnetkis, kobberkis og pyritt assosiert med klorittskifer og kvartsbånd/-årer/-slirer. Pyritt opptrer dels som spredte kuber i klorittskiferen, mend rikest mineralisering bestående av uregelemssige aggregater, slirer og årer av kobberkis, magnetkis og pyritt er assosiert med kvarts. Særlig synes mineraliseringen å være rik ved den vestligste synken. Kvartssonene er foldet og dels boudinert og mineraliseringen synes å være anriket i stokkformige linser parallell foldeaksene i området, dvs. mot sørvest. Sidebergart/vertsbergart er en klorittrik amfibolitt, antakelig sterkt deformert metagabbro.

Liten røsk, ca. 1x1 m i omriss og 0.5 m dyp på nordsiden av Flatskarvåsen. Mineralisering består av meget spredte små aggregater av kobberkis og magnetkis i metagabbro.
