Forekomsten ligger på en øst-vest orientert rygg, på nordøstsida av Stortjønna. En 2x5 m, vannfyllt skjæring med trolig mindre skråsynk er skutt ut på nordsida av ryggen. Gråbergstippen ligger vest for inngangen til skjæringa, mens mindre malmtipper finnes øst for skjæringa. I liggen finnes grå og massiv, finkornet kvarts-amfibol gneis med biotittlaminer. Den er dels båndet med tynne sulfidstriper og amfibolinnholdet varierer lokalt. Kvartsittisk gneis danner hengen til malmsona som i skjerpet opptrer som 10-40 cm brede linseformete rustsoner, mens massiv malm ikke er blottet. Ulike malmtyper finnes på tippen. Massiv magnetkis-kobberkis malm med noen bergartsfragmenter kan dels være kobber-rik (prøve .01), mens kobberkis-pyritt striper i fint båndet, kvarts-amfibol-biotitt gneis er mer vanlig (.02). Kobberkis-rik malm finnes også som tynne stikk og årer i finkornet kvartsittisk bergart (.03). Underordnet opptrer også sinkblende i 0.5 cm brede bånd. |
