Forekomsten ligger ca. 4 km nord for Ørsta på sørsiden av Trollkoppevatnet innenfor kartblad 1119-2. Den ligger ca. 5 km fra riksvei 1 og Ørstafjorden og fra riksveien er det ca. 270 meter med skogvei. Peridotittlinsen har en utbredelse på 200x1000 meter og ligger delvis oppe i fjellsiden på Akslahornet. Forekomsten er en pyroksenittisk peridotitt med tallrike dunittiske lag og en dunittrik kjerne. Den ser ut til å være lite påvirket av serpentinisering og inneholder bare noen få lag av serpentin som er < 1 cm brede.
