Adkomst skjer med båttransport over Altevatn og Leinavatn til Maissabukta (ca. 3 timer), hvorfra det går kjerrevei østover til en militær radarstasjon på toppen av Maissavarri. Fe-Ti-mineraliseringer i gabbro på begge sider av Leinavatn ble undersøkt av A/S Sydvaranger på 1960-tallet. Gabbrolinsen er i stor grad overdekket, og på østsiden av Leinavatn er det blottet mineralisert gabbro vel 3 km øst for Leinavatn, i en elvedal vel 700 m.o.h. Det er her ikke funnet spor etter skjerping eller diamantboring, men A/S Sydvaranger har boret på geofysiske anomalier i andre områder av gabbroen (TR0379 og TR0017). "Hovedskjerpet": Middelskornig gabbro med rik magnetitt-ilmenitt-impregnasjon (tilnærmet semimassiv) (prøve 03) er blottet over ca. 50 x 30 m2. Ca. 100 m mot NV er det en større blotning av gabbro med kun spor av magnetitt og ilmenitt. "Skjerp 1": 740 m.o.h., litt sør for elva. Ca. 50 m2 stor blotning av middelskornig gabbro med magnetitt-ilmenitt-impregnasjon (prøve 01). "Skjerp 2": 120 m mot nord og 5 m nord for elva er det en få m2 stor blotning av Fe-Ti-impregnert gabbro. "Skjerp 3": 60 m mot SV er det langs kanten av elva blottet en 2 m mektig sone i den vanligvis lyse, middelskornige gabbroen som er mørkere og grovkornig, og fører disseminasjon av magnetkis og spor av kobberkis (prøve 02). Mellom 50 og 100 m SV for "skjerp 3" er det i elveleiet blottet gabbro med spor av magnetitt og ilmenitt. "Skjerp 4": Over ca. 100 m lengde langs elveleiet er det blottet gabbro med bare svak magnetitt-ilmenitt-impregnajon. R. Wilberg -96.
