Lotternes er oppboret med 9 hull i 1916. 23 malmsoner i disse hullene utgjorde tilsammen 107,1 m lengde, og utregnet gjennomsnitt av analyser fra disse gir følgende: 21,1 % Fe-tot., 0,728 % P og 0,307 % S. Reservene, uten hensyn til brytbarhet, kan være ca. 7,9 mill. t. I følge boringen er mineraliseringen i Lotternes fattigere enn i Gunnarheimen. 9 utsøkt rike malmstuffer fra Lotternes-horisonten er analysert ved Norsk Jernverks lab. 1978, og ga følgende gjennomsnittsverdier: 27,18 % Fe-tot., 23,8 % Fe-magn., 0,34 % TiO2, 0,056 % MnO, 0,94 % P og 0,056 % S. 8 prøver av fattig impregnasjonsmalm gav i gjennomsnitt: 14,2 % Fe-tot., 7,2 % Fe-magn., 0,71 % TiO2, 0,074 % MnO, 0,44 % P og 0,529 % S. Det er relativt høye verdier av svovel og titan i denne impregnasjonsmalmen.

Abstract:
Forst. Forekomstens navn og koordinater: Lavangen. Bergarten i området er kvartsglimmerskifer med kalksteinssoner. Malmen består av magnetitt med noe kvarts, glimmer, hornblende og granat. Magnetittgehalter er 35-40 %.
