The iron ore on Meløy was exploited by the Swedish company A/S Nordiska Grubekompani. The depth of the mine is 234 m, and it closed due to fire in the plant and lower prices. The ruler-shaped massive ore has a length of 85-110 m and width around 20 m with ore axis plunging NE with moderate to steep dip (50-70°).

Abstract:
Rapporten er et brev til A/S Rausand Gruber der det opplyses at Bergarkivet har ingen rapporter om gruvene. Av bergmester-innberetningene framgår det imidlertid at gruvene ble drevet i tiden 1905 - 29 og at det ble produsert ca 417 000 t malm som holdt 50 51 % Fe, 1,0 % S og 0,015 % P. Litteratur om gruvene finnes i NGU nr. 51 og nr, 85 skrevet av J, H, L. Vogt. Gruvene ble trolig nedlagt fordi de gikk full av vann.
