The Fremmingvangen quartz vein which is situated about 750 m southwest of the Brustad mine (AK0020), is the host of 5 shallow pits and one deep water-filled shaft. They are numbered consecutively from no. 1 in the east to no. 6 in the west. The largest of the workings is no. 5 representing a water-filled shaft which according to the size of the original spoil heap must have been 5-10 m deep. It is now filled in and covered by material from the new road to Lake Grønnsjøen. The 1.5-2 m wide NE-SW-trending vein is composed of massive milky quartz which intersects amphibolitic gabbros (hyperite intrusion) with rafts of gneiss granites of the Solør Complex. The steeply dipping vein which can be traced over a distance of nearly 700 m, is enveloped by weak sercite- and chlorite- alteration. The host rocks occurring as fragments in the vein or being strongly quartz veined along the main vein contact, is usually transformed into quartz-sericite rocks with accessory to sub-ordinate amounts of disseminated pyrite and occasionally chalcopyrite (e.g. no. 6). The vein itself is in most outcrops barren of sulphides. Presently, sulphide mineralisation is only detected in no. 1 and no. 5 where pyrite, chalcopyrite and galena form erratically distributed aggregates, fracture fillings and thin stringers, the latter being orientated parallel to the vein contact. Analyses of the sulphide mineralisation yield up to 1 g/t Au.
