På sørøstspissen av øya Elvalandet nord for Namsos opptrer kvartsitthorisonter. Kvartsitten er prøvetatt i profiler i området ved Svartdalen og Svartdalshatten. Mektigheten er opp mot 100 m. Kvartsitten har et visuelt for høyt innhol av glimmer og kjemiske analyser viser at alle prøvene har et Al2O3-innhold på over 1%. De beste partier ligger mellom 1 og 1.7%, og kvartsitten er følgelig ikke brukbar for metallurgiske formål.
