Brannfjellsgruppen, med en enhet av glimmergneis og amfibolitt, som inneholder jernmalmer øst for Langfjordvatnet, tynner ut noe vest for Langfjordvatnet. På vestsiden av vatnet er både amfibolitten og jernmalmen tynnere, ellers er det lite som skiller de to områdene. Jernmalmen vest for Langfjordvatnet ligger oftest sentralt i amfibolitten, men finnes også i kontakten til sideberget. Sør for Skalvejavre, like NØ for et lite tjern, er det blottet finkornig, semimassiv til nesten massiv kvartsbåndet magnetitt-mineralisering (prøve 01) på to steder med 10 - 15 m avstand på tvers av strøket. De to, 2 - 4 m mektige, malmsonene kan være den samme som er foldet.
