Sulfidmineraliseringene ved Megrund er en av de få som er kjent på vestsida av Espedalsvatnet. De finnes nord for Nedre Megrundstjern øverst i den bratte lia ned mot Espedalsvatnet. Enkleste adkomst er langs en godt merket sti opp fra Sveasetra i sør, men det går også en bratt sti opp fra Hessenget nede ved Espedalsvatnet. Det er kun gjort mindre røskingsarbeider langs denne sulfidsona, og i tillegg har Sulfidmalm (1975-76) og senere Blackstone (2005-07) utført kjerneboring i området. Sona som er blottet er 2-4 m mektig og kan følges stedvis i en lengde av 2-300 m. Den består av disseminasjon og årenettverk av magnetkis og mindre mengder kobberkis i finkornet, svakt foliert gabbro/noritt. Sulfidmalm har også beskrevet remobilisert, mere massiv malm med 1-3 % Ni i tilknytning til skjærsoner og den sonen kan følges geofysisk over lengde på 700 m området (Nixon 1976). Lengre oppe i terrenget finnes en større linse med ultramafiske bergarter.
