Forekomsten sees som et 40x40 meter stort brudd, som har vært drevet på en granatperidotitt. Forekomsten er kjent for sine fine granater og der er funnet eksemplarer med tilnærmet smykkesteinskvalitet. Forekomsten representerer ingen olivinforekomst, men har vært prøvetatt og analysert som endel av regionale olivin undersøkelser. Forekomsten er en del av den 800meter lang og 300 meter bred kropp av peridotitt. En tilsvarende kropp finnes ca. 500 meter mot SV. Dette er en av de lettest tilgjengelige granatperiodittier og denne kroppen har undersøkt som en del av tallrike publikasjoner om norske granatperidotitter og eklogitter.
