Sørdalskjerpene ligger på snaufjellet på nordsida av Husvikfjellet. Det sørligste av disse er hovedskjerpet. De andre ligger tilnærmet rett nord for dette. Berggrunnen i området domineres av migmatittisk gneis med en rekke granodiorittintrusjoner. Skjerpet består av en 10 m lang og opptil 4 m høy dagskjæring som er orientert tilnærmet vest-øst med åpning mot vest. Få cm brede, uregelmessige bånd og linser med sulfidmineraliseringer sitter i glimmerrik sone i granatførende glimmergneis og langs grensen mellom denne glimmerskiferen og porfyrisk granodioritt. De mineraliserte linsene opptrer i en 0,5- 1 m bred sone parallelt skifrigheten (180°/85°) i glimmerskiferen. Vik (1975) antar at den mineraliserte sonen har dannet en linse eller stokk med stupning 30°-50° mot sør. Kalifeltspat i granodioritten er omvandlet til amazonitt i en opptil 1 m bred sone omkring mineraliseringene. Denne omvandling er ikke påvist utenfor sulfidmineraliserte soner. Sulfimineraliseringene domineres av dels grovkornet blyglans, sinkblende, arsenkis og magnetkis og i mindre mengder finnes kobberkis. Mineralogisk skiller de seg fra Husviksonen med at vanlig aksessoriske mineral er fahlerts og i tillegg er boulangeritt påvist (Vik 1975).

I det midtre Sørdalskjerpet opptrer også sulfidmineraliseringene i en 1 m bred, skifrig glimmerskifer med kontakt mot minst 2 m mektig porfyrisk granodioritt i øst. Ca 5 cm bred sone med malm opptrer i parallelt skifrigheten i skiferen i skjæringa. Stuffer på tippen viser at den mineraliserte sone kan være minst 15 cm bred.

Det nordlige Sørdalsskjerpet er en mindre røsk med svak sulfidmineralisering i glimmerskifer omgitt av porfyrisk granodioritt. Blyglansdominert malm finnes i blokker.
