Iron mineralisation has been registered at several localities at Nordøya and Sørøya in the northernmost part of Dønna. It seems to be associated a sequence of tremolite-bearing dolomite marble and calcite marble. In a minor bay on Sørøya, magnetite occurs in various rocks in scattered outcrops. Nearly flat-lying granitic gneiss is found in the lowermost part of the section. It is overlain by banded calcite marble (2-4 m thick) followed by lensoid, magnetite-bearing pyroxene-amphibole-quartz skarn (10-40 cm) (Sample JSFE15.18) and massive magnetite in amphibole-garnet-quartz- rock (10-20 cm) (Sample JSFE15.19). A thin layer of calcite marble (0.5-1 m) is then overlain by green, fine grained pyroxene-rich? rock with some magnetite dissemination (Sample JSFE15.17). On top is located banded calcite marble. The magnetite-bearing rock also contains locally some Fe-sulphides, giving the rock a rusty appearance. The whole sequence resembles more skarn-type mineralisation and is thus unlike Dunderlandsdalen IF, although it has a stratiform appearance.
