The Bogen Fe ore field consists of a number of workings over a strike length of c. 6 km. About 1.6 mill.t of magnetite ore was produced from three open pits with associated underground workings (Øvre and Nedre Kleven, Bergvik) between 1906 and 1939 (several periods). The ore occurs in several layers and lenses of semimassive ore, varying in thickness from less than 2 meters and up to c. 10 meters, typically separated by amphibolitic layers often with magnetite impregnation. The total thickness of the mineralized zone varies from c. 10 meters to 100-200 meters. The zone is strongly deformed and is folded into a number of recumbent tight to isoclinals fold structures, which have disrupted the ore layers and increased considerably the thickness in the fold closures. The mineralized zone is situated between calcareous mica schist (structurally below) and calcite marble (structurally above). The ore is generally banded/laminated on mm to cm scale, with alternating quartz, amphibole +/- biotite and magnetite layers. At places the ore contains thin manganese-rich or/and hematite-rich layers, typically in the structurally upper and lower parts, respectively.

Geologisches Gutachten zur Geologie Mit den Vorråten der Eisenerzlagerstatte Bogen/Ofoten.
;Norges geologiske undersøkelse;FAGRAPPORT;Bergarkivet; No.BA 3250;11 pages
Abstract:

;Norges geologiske undersøkelse;RAPPORT;Bergarkivet; No.BA 3518;33 pages
