A number of thin graphite schits layers can be followed along the ridge of the mountain Hesten. The structural deformation has been described by Hendrerson & Kendric 2003. The 2013 airbone geohysics show that the deposit make up a almost 1 km long geophysical anomaly. Sampling in 2014 show that the graphite schist, contain from 3-8% carbon. The graphite bearing unit strikes 150 deg. with a dip of of about 65 degrees. |

Strukturanalyser av 6 grafittforekomster har blitt gjennomført på Senja, Troms. Detaljert 1:5000 kartlegging har blitt gjennomført på 4 av disse forekomster i tillegg til innsamlingen av prøver for grafittanalyser. Deler av Trælenforekomsten er kartlagt i målestokk 1:400. regionale undersøkelser har gitt ytterligere kunnskaper om strukturene i forekomstene og bidratt til å sette forekomstenes geometri inn i en regional sammenheng. Hovedmålet for denne studeien har vært å karakterisere de komplekse strukturelle hendelser som både dannet og modifiserte grafittforekomstene. Studien viser at grafittmineraliseringen har nær sammenheng med utviklingen av F2 folder, fordi grafitten er best utviklet i forbindelse med nord-sør strøkende F2 foldeakser. F2 foldene er deformerte av D3 deformasjonsfase langs omtrent øst-vestgående foldeakser. Dette har dannet komplekse flerfase foldegeometrier. Geografisk sett, er grafitten mest utpreget der F3 strukturer krysser F2 strukturer som inneholder grafitt. Utbredelsen av grafittblottinger henger nøye sammen med om både F2 og F3 skjærsoner er til stede. Lokalt (F2) eller regionalt (F3) kan "skjære ut" grafittblottingene og dermed begrenser utbredelsen av grafittforekomstene. Dette studium viser derfor at kunnskap om kombinasjonene av D2 og D3 strukturer kan skape en bedre forståelse av grafittforekomstenes geometri. I noen av forekomstene (Trælen og Finnkona) har ytterligere en deformasjonsfase (D4) blitt identifisert, en fase som har aldri vært dokumentert før. Dette antyder ennå mer kompleksitet i forståelsen av disse forekomstene. Det er åpenbart i mange av disse forekomstene at både F2 og F3 foldingene er svært usylindriske. Dette viser at det er problematisk å bruke småfold geometrier for å fastsette storskala forekomstgeometri. As a part of the MINN project, NGU conducted an airborne geophysical survey at Senja in July-August 2012 and August 2013 (Rodionov et al. 2013). For special reasons, a small area were not measured until September 2014. This report describes and documents the acquisition, processing and visualization of all recorded datasets from Senja. The geophysical survey results reported herein are 5620 line km, covering an area of 1124 km2. The NGU modified Geotech Ltd. Hummingbird frequency domain system supplemented by optically pumped Cesium magnetometer and 1024 channels RSX-5 spectrometer was used for data acquisition. The main part of the survey was flown with 200 m line spacing and lines were oriented at a 55° azimuth in UTM zone 33 W coordinates. The northern part of the survey area was flown with 200 m line spacing and line orientation at 145° due to the extreme rugged terrain. The area around the Skaland and the Trælen graphite mines was flown with 100 m line spacing and line oriented at 125°-160° azimuth. |
