Beliggenhet. ------------ Markerte vegskjæringer (både gammel og ny vei) ved Steingardssetran ca. 6 km N for Gartland. Geologi. -------- Gale nevner magnetkismineralisering på dette stedet, og angir mineraliseringen til å være 15 m mektig med opptil 30 cm tykke bånd av massiv magnetkis. Magnetkis opptrer vesentlig i semimassiv form, lokalt dominerer pyritt. Vegskjæringen er ikke mange år gammel, og rustforvitringen er ikke kommet igang. Dette gjør at malmsonen er breiere enn den ser ut for. Vertsbergarten er en amfibolittskifer, med mye biotitt og granat i partier og glimmerskifer. Lys kvarts + kalkspat årer/linser er utbredt. Disse er generelt ikke mineraliserte. Malmen er anriket på Co+ Ni, Zn og Cu, men gehaltene er ikke interessante (maks. 0.02 % Cu). Noe kobberkis ble sett sammen med pyritt. I vegskjæringen i den gamle veien finnes rustsoner over ca. 100 m langs veien.
