Det ligger en rekke skjerp i ekshalitthorisonter mellom Bjørkvatnet og Gjersvika. De viktigste er beskrevet her. Hovedskjerpet ligger i en forsenkning 200 m sørsørvest for det høyeste punktet på hovedveien. Bjørkvatnet SØ ligger i munningen av Bjørkvatnet og er lett å finne. Storfossen ligger i selve fossen rett nordvest for et sandtak. Forekomsten ble oppdaget i 1911 av Peder Gjersvik og Ole Haabnes, og ble "litt minert" samme år. I dette området finnes en rekke ekshalitthorisonter som består dels av massiv svovelkis (vasskis), massiv magnetitt og magnetitt- og sulfidførende chert/kvartsitt (blåkvarts). De er normalt 0.5-2 m mektige og kan vanligvis følges få titalls meter langs strøket, men kan ha en utstrekning på få hundre meter. Disse jernformasjonene ligger i grønnstein, og i området finnes en rekke felsiske intrusive og ekstrusive bergarter. Det er ikke mulig å avgjøre om ekshalittene tilhører nøyaktig det samme stratigrafiske nivået. I hovedskjerpet opptrer få dm mektige lag i veksling som består av ren svovelkis, svovelkisdisseminasjon i klorittrik bergart, svovelkisdisseminasjon i chert og ren magnetitt. Ganger med hydrotermal kvarts skjærer disse lagene. Forekomsten i munningen av Bjørkvatnet har en noe mer uregelmessig form som gir et komplekst stratigrafisk forhold mellom kis og blåkvarts. Massiv kis herfra er dessuten noe anriket på gull. Storfossenforekomsten er relativt flattliggende og inneholder lite kis. Den består hovedsakelig av massive magnetitt med enkelte chertlinser og er opptil 1.5 m mektig. Forøvrig finnes en rekke magnetitthorisonter 0.2-0.5 m mektige i dette området.

Abstract:
Ore occurences of the Grong area: In the period 1910-1918 a great number of ore occurences were discovered in the Grong area. The late state geologist Steinar Foslie mapped the area in the years 1922-1931. Foslie also mapped all claims and occurences and made special field investigations in a few cases. This book presents a survey of all occurences chiefly based on the field observations of Foslie. In addition the present author has done some field work in connection with the three large deposits, Joma, Skorovass, and Gjersvik. The map, Plate 1, shows the areal geology and the location of the occurrences, numbered from 1 to 131. the ore of the occurrences is chiefly pyrite. The larger occurrences also contain some chalcopyrite and sphalerite etc. and the smaller occurrences contain ither pure pyrite with some magnetite. The Joma deposit (No. 1), contains about 15.5 mill. tons of ore. The ore zone forms an arc and is situated within a thick series of greenstones (Fig. 1). The Skorovass mine (No. 2), contains about 7,5 mill. tons of ore. The deposit is situated in a greenstone complex (Fig. 7), and is immediately surrounded by asid tuffs of quartz keratophyric composition (Table 1).
