Forekomsten ligger 0,5-1 km nord for veien Gjersvik - Steinfjell, fra Gjersvik og 5 km mot vest. Intense rustsoner er godt blottet langs østskråningen opp mot toppen av fjellet. Mineraliseringene i Annlifjellet er knyttet til bergarter i Gjersvikgruppen. Denne er her representert ved flere grønnsteinstyper, metaryodacitt og en vulkansk breksje. Både den mørke, stilpnomelanrike grønnsteinsvarianten, karakteristisk for det vestlige grønnsteinsbeltet i Gjersvikdekket, og den lyse, såkalte Kirmagrønnsteinen finnes her. Mot NV grenser metavulkanittene mot en trondhjemitt som tilhører Gjersvikdekket. Mineraliseringen representer trolig en tilførselssone som opptrer i felsiske bergarter som tektonostratigrafisk ligger over en ekshalittmineralisering (forekomst NT0307, Annlia). Tilførselssonen består av kvarts-svovelkisårer som vanligvis er noen mm tynne, med tilhørende kraftig sidestensomvandling, serisittisering og silisifisering. Opptil dm-tykke årer er også observert. Den er anriket på sink, kobber, bly og sølv, og har et forhøyet gull-innhold. Putelavastrukturer i området viser at lagrekken er invertert. Vasskisene ligger da stratigrafisk over stringersonen og under den mørke grønnsteinen.
