Hovedskjerpet ligger 800 m nord for veien Gjersvik - Steinfjell, fra Gjersvik og 5 km mot vest. Mineraliseringen kan stedvis følges nordover og sørvestover. Flere skjerp finnes sør, sørøst og nordøst for Annlifjellet. Mineraliseringene i Annlifjell-området er knyttet til bergarter i Gjersvikgruppen. Denne er her representert ved flere grønnsteinstyper, metaryodacitt og en vulkansk breksje. Både den mørke, stilpnomelanrike grønnsteinsvarianten, karakteristisk for det vestlige grønnsteinsbeltet i Gjersvikdekket, og den lyse, såkalte Kirmagrønnsteinen finnes her. Mot NV grenser metavulkanittene mot en trondhjemitt som tilhører Gjersvikdekket. Hovedforekomsten er et av flere skjerp langs en usammenhengende ekshalitt-horisont som kan følges fra Bjørkvatnet (forekomst NT0304) i sør til Kirma-vannene i nord. Hver enkelt sone kan følges over få hundre meter. Bruddene skyldes trolig både primære forhold under avsetning og senere skyveplan. De ligger trolig på samme stratigrafiske nivå, med tektonostratigrafisk felsisk breksje over og mørk grønnstein under den massive svovelkissona som er 20-80 cm mektig. Den massive sulfidmalmen er trolig en vasskis. Den fører spor av kobberkis og sinkblende, og har noen steder bånd av magnetitt eller magnetkis. Stedvis finnes også chert, som dels er magnetittførende (blåkvarts).
