Mineraliseringen ble skjerpet ca. 1905. Den opptrer i tilnærmet samme horisont som Malmhaug gruve, i kontaktsonen mellom kvartskeratofyr i liggen og uren kalkspatmarmor, ca. 600 m SØ for kisforekomsten. Det er røsket på 7 steder langs den 250 m lange mineraliseringen. I den vestlige delen er det massiv malm med mektighet opptil 30 cm, mens det i øst er impregnasjon og massive årer i marmoren over opptil 4 m mektighet. Grensen til sideberget er skarp, og årene har liten innblanding av gangmineraler. Årene skjærer foliasjonen, men opptrer alltid i samme nivå. De diskordante forholdet er tydelig lokalt - smale årer skjærer inn i marmoren. Malmen består av opptil 5 mm store svovelkiskuber i en grunnmasse av sinkblende og blyglans (prøve 01-04). Aksessorisk opptrer magnetkis, kobberkis, arsenkis og stanitt. Ved UTM 479320 7356580 er det en 2 m dyp synk (hovedskjerpet). Mektigheten på mineraliseringen er ca. 40 cm, dog med endel marmor innblandet. Et lite skjerp ligger 10 m mot øst (skjerp 1). Skjerp 2, UTM 479420 7356560: 4 m mektig impregnasjonsmalm med cm-mektige sulfidårer er avdekket i en røsk. I tillegg til nevnte mineraler opptrer også noe malakitt. Skjerp 3, UTM 479250 7356600: Lite skjerp. 20 cm mektig massivmalm. 10 m mot øst er det et lite overgrodd skjerp (skjerp 4), mens 40 m mot vest avdekker en røsk (skjerp 5) en malmmektighet på 20 cm massivmalm. Tilsammen er tippvolumet ca. 30 m3. Analyse fra forekomsten viser en Ag-gehalt på 150 ppm. Au er ikke detektert (Karlstrøm 1990).

Abstract:
Malmhaug kisforekomst og bly-sink skjerp ble undersøkt for å finne sammenhengen mellom bly-sink mineraliseringene og kismalmen, og for å øke kjennskapen til malmene i Rana-distriktet. Et område på ca. 3 km² rundt malmene er kartlagt i målestokk 1:5 000 og prøver av mineraliseringene er undersøkt mineralogisk og geokjemisk. Kis- malmen ligger stratiformt i overgangssonen mellom en lys gneis, trolig en sur vulkanitt, og en kalkrik serie. Bly-sink mineraliseringene er svært små og finnes på sprekker i dolomitt, like over det mineraliserte nivået, men utenfor det egentlige gruveområdet og uten sammenheng med kismalmen.

Abstract:
The deposits described in this paper are situated in the large section of Northern Norway, generally called Helgeland, some in the districts of Rana and Vefsn, others in the districts (herreder) Leirfjord and Tjøtta in the Nordland county. The deposits occur in metamorphic rocks of Cambro-Silurian age and in the neighbourhood of acid plutonic rocks belonging to the igneous series of the Caledonian mountain range. These igneous rocks generally consist of light coloured granites, and the accompanying intrusive sheets are white and often very siliceous with few dark minerals. The ore forms intrusive sheets or impregnations in the metamorphic rocks. The ore minerals are zinkblende and galena, the latter sometimes being argentiferous. They are accompanied by pyrrhotite and pyrite, sometimes also by arsenopyrite They always form complex ores the utilization of which was formerly difficult but is now made possible through the application of the modern methods of selective flotation. Zinkblende is the prevailing ore mineral. The amount of galena is rather variable, but its distribution in the occurrences is only imperfectly known. Also the amounts of accompanying pyritic minerals are variable.
