Dersom man tar med 11 malmlinser med gj.sn. tykkelse 0,45m,øker malm- tonnasjen med bare 80 000 tonn. Malmlinsene ligger 0-5m,opptil 10m over havet. Malmlinsene opptrer langs en 1,6km lang strøklengde.Malmen er grovkornet magnetitt.De tykkeste malmlag inneholder grovkornet hematitt. Sammen med det 5km lenger NØ-for liggende Nordøy-feltet danner Rølvåg-feltet en domstruktur.Hele jernmalmformasjonen er vanlig 40-90m tykk, ved Risøy SV 150m. 19 prøver er analysert ved Norsk Jernverk 1976 og 1982 og viser: Utplukket ren magnetitt Prøve Fe tot. Abstract: | |
Kalkstein er blant Norges viktigste mineralprodukter med en årlig produksjon på over 5 millioner tonn. De internasjonale markedsutsiktene gir rom for vekst. Særlig innen miljøteknologi (fjerning og nøytralisering av helsefarlige elementer) og til framstilling av spesielle papirkvaliteter, vil etterspørselen etter kalkstein øke. Utviklingen innen prosessteknologi gjør at forekomster som tidligere ikke ble vurdert som økonomisk interessante, i årene framover kan vise seg å bli lønnsomme. |

Rusty, skarn-type lenses and bands are enclosed in calcite marble north of Rølvåg close to the sea in the northwestern Above this zone is nearly flat-lying layers, up to 4 m thick, with semi-massive bands of magnetite in calcite marble (Samples JSFE15.20-21). Locally, coarse grained hematite occurs, and the matrix in these bands are pyroxene, quartz and minor amphibole. This iron formation is probably an eastward continuation of the IFs on the island Risøya. |
