Gruva består av en vannfylt skjæring, ca 12 m lang, 2-3 m bred og inntil 5 m ned til vannspeiltet. Skjæringen går i nordøstlig retning (65 grader) og starter ca. 10 m fra vannkanten. Den er drvet på tvers av strøket i typiske fahlbåndsgneiser bestående av vekslende bånd av felsiske, kvartsrike gneiser og mafiske amfibolrike gneiser med granat. Bergartene er generelt granatrike. Bergartene inneholder dels en svak disseminasjon av pyritt og pyrrhotitt (Prøve BU1801). Tippen ligger ut mot vannet og en god del av materialet ligger nok i vannet.

Forekomsten ligger på vestsida av Bjørvatnet og er lett tilgjengelig fra en sti fra sørøstenden av vannet. Den består av en tilnærmet øst-vest orientert (96°) vannfylt synk med sidevegger på 6x2 m. De er 2-2,5 m høye over vannspeilet. Biotittførende, kvartsittisk bergart med svakt utvikla foliasjon som har orientering 12°/85° dominerer. På tippen finnes kun svak disseminasjon av jernsulfider i den kvartsittiske bergarten. Ca. 20 m lengre nord finnes en liten grop med tilsvarende mineralisert bergart.
