Fjellslett ligger i sterkt deformert grønnstein i den øvre sekvensen med grønnstein og er assosiert med blågrå chert og jaspis. Strukturelt under chertlaget opptrer massive sulfider knyttet til en foldeombøyning i en tett foldestruktur. Sulfidene er dels remobilisert og rekrystallisert (McQueen 1983). Stratigrafisk ligger Fjellslett på et høyere nivå enn Dragset som ligger ca 2,4 km lengre øst. Hovedforekomsten består av en dagskjæring med en vannfylt synk og fortsetter videre inn mot en 20-25 m lang stoll med retning 170°. Ved synken er det blottet en mer enn 2 m mektig, gråhvit chert som fører noe pyritt-kobberkis i årer/strenger og tynne bånd. Det ser ut som det har vært grøftet langs strøkretningen til denne chert videre vestover. Grønnskifer som er 1-1,5 m mektig, finnes i stollinngangen. Den ligger over en mer enn 2 m mektig, massiv sulfidsone som domineres av kobberkis og pyritt, og i mindre mengder finnes sinkblende og magnetitt. De vanligste gangmineralene er kvarts, aktinolitt og kloritt.

En 20 m lang og 1-2 m høy, tilnærmet øst-vest orientert (260°) dagskjæring er anlagt langs en massiv sulfidsone. Skjæringen er i dag for en stor grad gjengrodd, men malmsonen kan observeres i begge ender. En 10 m lang skjæring kan følges inn til østenden av dagskjæringa. Der er det blottet en 1,5 m mektig massiv sulfidsone. I vestveggen overlagres sulfidsona av 1-1,5 m mektig grønnskifer med svak disseminasjon av pyritt. Foliasjonen i grønnskiferen er 275°/65° og over denne ligger en gråhvit chert med svært svak sulfiddisseminasjon. Den er minst 1,5 m mektig. Den massive malmen er båndet og domineres av pyritt og kobberkis, men tynne bånd av sinkblende forkommer også. Kobberkisaggregater er også observert i grovkornet, hydrotermal kvarts på tippen.

En 15 m lang dagskjæring som er opptil 4 m høy og 2 m bred fører inn til en stoll. Denne er anlagt i lys grågrønn grønnskifer. Tippen har et volum på omkring 250 m3 og er en gråbergstipp. Det er ikke tegn til sulfidmineraliseringer av betydning hverken i driften eller på tippen.
