Grønskardfeltet består av en rekke gruver og skjerp som ligger på Skardhøgda, øst for Blåhåmmåren og ca. 3 km sør for Allergodtfeltet. Enkleste adkomst er via bomvei fra Lauvøya i Tydal opp til Grønsjøen. Derfra går det en sti langs sjøen fram mot feltet og videre til Kjøli. Feltet ligger 3 km sør for Grønsjøen i åpent fjellterreng. Den første forekomsten ble påvist i 1741 av Ole Nilsen, og ble drevet av Selbu verk i 31 år. Gruva ble lenset i 1800 og Røros kobberverk fortsatte driften fra 1801 med mindre avbrudd fram til 1828. The Kjøli mines lenset gruva på nytt i 1905, men regulær drift ble ikke satt i gang. Hovedgruva er av Aasgard (1927) kalt Grønskar grube I (tidligere også Hammergruben). I tillegg finnes grube II og III og flere skjerp langs den samme sonen. En stoll ble også drevet fra Kjørergruben som ligger ca. 200 m sørsørvest for hovedgruva. Flogruva med en rekke skjerp videre sørover, ligger ved den lille elva Fremmergrøna ca. 400 m sør for hovedgruva. Grønskar I består av en 15x3 m vannfylt synk. En tilnærmet nord-sør orientert, opptil 1 m mektig sulfidmalmsone med moderat fall mot vest er blottet i nordveggen av synken. Over denne ligger en linse med massiv magnetittmalm med en kvarts-biotitt skifer, som dels er massiv og psammittisk på toppen. Denne er kloritt-rik i kontakt mot malmen. Under malmsona finnes kvarts-glimmer skifer som er lik hengbergarten. Eldre gruvekart viser at malmen opptrer som en linjal som er drevet ca. 110 m mot vest fram mot en forkastning. Største bredde er ca. 25 m. Den typiske sulfidmalm er av breksjetype og består av massiv magnetkis med kobberkis aggregater og strenger og mørke grønne bergartsfragmenter (prøve .05). Den finkornete magnetittmalmen inneholder også smale bånd (1-3 mm) med sulfider eller amfibol (.06). Breksjemalm uten bergartsfragmenter men med nåleformete magnetkiskrystaller finnes også på tippen (.07).

Abstract:
The occurences described in this paper form a connection between th mining districts around Røros to the south and those around Meråker to the north. The occurences lie in mountain regions partly above the forest line. The list on page 12 contains the names of all known occurrences of whatever size within the district considered. Pl. I is a geological outline map of the district, compiled from maps in the Norwegian Geological Survey. In a geological summary on pages 18-27 it is shown that no pyrite occurrences of economic importance so far have been found in an eastern zone along the Swedish boundary where the rocks consist of hard schist with sparagmites, and igneous rocks. Neither have such occurrences been found in a zone of "Stuedalsskifer" and an other zone of "Gulaskifer" towards west, both indicated on the map. The occurrences of pyrite are chiefly found in connection with fine grained, light green or gravish, partly feldspar bearing schist and in connection with green schists, mostly fine grained hornblende schists. All these zones of schist gnereally strike north and dip west. The pyrite bearing schist lie on both sildes of a large zone of igneous rocks extending from Kjølifjell in the south over Hyllingen and Melshogna to Fangen in the Meråker district in the north.

Abstract:
Two important sulphide ore-bearing formations have been recognized in the Cambro-Silurian succession of the Røros district. One is composed of submarine greenstones and quartz keratophyres (the Hersjø Formation). The other one, which is studied here, consists of a heterogeneous series of banded meta-argillites and meta-greywackes with subordinate thin green interlayers of probable volcanogenic origin (the Røsjø Formation). These two formations are embedded in a thick succession of various clastic sedimentary rocks which have undergone metamorphism and folding during the Silurian orogeny. The numerous sulphide deposits which occur in the Kjøli area are largely confined to the Røsjø Formation. The sulphide bodies are chiefly composed of massive pyrite and/or pyrrhotite showing variable chalcopyrite and sphalerite grades. The massive sulphides often occur as thin, extensive sheets, locally as irregular, small lenses which rarely exceed one metre in thickness. It is probable that the sulphides have been precipitated primarily on the sea-floor, but there is no clear evidence of a volcanogenic origin. Local discordant relationships between the massive sulphides and the wall rocks are ascribed to metamorphic mobilization of the sulphides. The thicker sulphide lenses may themselves represent mobilized portions of thinner sulphide-rich units.

Grønskard 2 ligger ca. 80 med sør for hovedgruva og 10 m lavere i terrenget. Den består av en vannfylt skråsjakt som stuper mot nord i bunnen av en knaus. Øst for åpningen ligger en 80 m3 tipp. En 20-40 cm mektig malmsone med retning 156°/25° er blottet nederst i sjaktåpningen. Den består av kobberkis-svovelkis strenger/aggregater, dels rundt kvartsøyne i seig, kvartsrik psammitt ("hårdart") (prøve .09). På tippen finnes også magnetkis-kobberkis breksjemalm (.10) som ligner malmen i hovedgruva. I tillegg fører breksjemalmen noe svovelkis og kvartssøyne. 18 m sør for Grønskard 2 finnes en grunn grop med samme malmtype. Videre 30 m lengre sør finnes et nytt mindre skjerp med 2 m3 tipp. Liknende breksjetype sulfidmalm opptrer, men magnetkis er erstattet av svovelkis (.13). Finkornet kvarts-glimmerskifer med bånding 165°/20° ligger over malmsonen. Det er også sprengt litt i liknende mineralisering ca. 100 m lengre sør.

Grønskard 3 ligger ca. 80 m nordnordvest for hovedgruva. Den består av en 4x4 m synk, som dels er dekket av betongsviller. Det er relativt lite malm på den relativt store tippen. Malmen er ikke blottet ved sjakta. På tippen finnes den vanlige magnetkis-kobberkis breksjemalm (prøve .03). Den kan være sterkt deformert og i kontakt med finkornet magnetitt i grovkornet amfibol-rik bergart (.04). Granat-rik klorittskifer finnes også i kontakt med sulfidene.

Skjerp 1 ligger mellom hovedgruva og Grønskard 3 og består av en mindre stoll og skjerp hvor malmsona og sidebergartene er godt blottet. Malmsona er 25 cm mektig og består av magnetkis-kobberkis breksjemalm med hyppig små kvartslinser med kobberkis-strenger (prøve .02). Over malmsona ligger kloritt-rik kvarts-glimmer skifer som blir mer kvarts-rik og massiv videre opp i lagrekken. Bløt kvarts-glimmer skifer med litt kloritt og små kvartslinser ligger under. Bergartene er sterkt deformert langs kontakten til malmen.

Et 10x3 m grunn grop er utsprengt på toppen av en knaus 30 m sørvest for hovedgruva. I denne er det blottet en 1,2 m mektig sone med finkornet, massiv magnetitt med svært lite sulfider (prøve .08). I hengen i vest finnes kvarts-biotitt skifer som er mer kloritt- og granat-rik nær magnetittmalmen. I ligg er bergarten mer kvarts-rik og massiv.

Kjørergruva består av en skråsjakt som er avgrenset av et markert plan (forkastning?) med retning 225°/55° i nordvest. Veggen i sørvest består av kvarts-rik sandstein med foliasjon 122°/30°.Malm er ikke blottet, men en skeidehaug ligger på tippen utenfor. Kobber-rik breksjetype magnetkis-kobberkis malm (prøve .11) og prøver med magnetkis-kobberkis aggregater/strenger i og rundt grovkornete kvartslinser (.12) er utskeidet. Det antas at malmen kommer fra Kjørergruva da utgangen fra stollen inn til hovedgruva ligger 30 m lengre vest og 5 m lavere i terrenget.

Grønskard jernmalmgrube ligger 200 m nord for hovedgruva og består av 5 små nærliggende, skjerp og 3 tipphauger (totalt 75 m3) med utskeidet, finkornet og massiv magnetittmalm (prøve .01). Smale bånd og stikk med magnetkis og kobberkis finnes lokalt sammen med magnetitten. Det største skjerpet er 3x4 m. Vertsbergarten er grågrønn, finkornet kvarts-biotittskifer som dels er sterkt småfoldet.

Grønskard nord ligger nord for Skardhøgda. Skjerpet med 60 m3 tipp, er godt synlig fra Grønsjøen i den nordøstvendte skråningen. Det består av en 6x4 m vannfylt skråsynk. En ca. 0,5 m mektig malmsone med retning 110/20 er blottet i åpningen. Den består av årer og strenger av magnetkis-kobberkis i grovkornet kloritt- og amfibol-rik skifer med få kvartsøyne. Malmen ligger i bløt kvarts-glimmerskifer som er sterkt deformert.
