From Vokes et al. 1996: The Gressli deposit lies at a level within the dominantly intermediate to basic extrusives of the Fundsjø group which contains abundant felsic extrusives, graphite schists and biotite-staurolite-sillimanite schists. This belt is probably stratigraphically equivalent to that hosting the Rødhammer deposit, ca. 15 km to the south. The felsic extrusives hosting the ore body differ from the other felsic rocks by containing abundant cherty layers, probably due to silicification. The deposit was discovered in 1792 and was worked in three periods until 1868 (total 24 years of mining). The ore was regarded a low quality copper ore and was only mined to a depth of 30m. No grades ore tonnages are known from these mining periods. Investigations by drilling, geophysics, etc. during the 20th century (1917-1975) made it possible to estimate a probable ore tonnage of 78 000 t with 0.90 % Cu and 5.52 % Zn. The ore body is a plate SE dipping of varying massiveness, having a maximum E-W extension of about 200 m and a N-S horizontal projection not exceeding 100 m. It is thickest (about 4 m) in upper northerly part and thinning out to apparently nothing down-dip. The sulfide plate also appears to thin out along strike to the SE and NW. The outcropping mineralization consists of an upper (HW) zone of massive, crudely-banded, sphalerite-pyrite-(chalcopyrite) ore, underlain by massive pyrite which grades down into pyrite-impregnated sericitic quartz schist. |

I forbindelse med geofysiske målinger ble det foretatt geologisk kartlegging ved Græsli gruver i Tydalen. De geofysiske indikasjonene ble undersøkt og alle ble beskrevet som impregnasjon av svovelkis i svartskifer. Ut fra de stratigrafiske og malmgeologiske forhold er det grunn til å tro at ingen av de geofysiske indikasjonene skriver seg fra malm. Videre undersøkelser blir ikke anbefalt. |
