Forekomsten ligger i nordvestskråningen av Grefstofjellet (Grefstadfjellet), ca. 800 m sør for SV-enden av Frilsjøen. Skjerpet er sprengt ut i en lengde av 12 m og i en bredde omkring 3-4 m på NV-siden av en knaus. Sideveggene er opptil 10 m høye. Nord for skjerpet ligger en tipp med volum ca. 400 m3. Sulfidmineraliseringen opptrer langs en uregelmessig kontakt mellom finkornet grønnstein og mer middels- til grovkornet metagabbro (metadoleritt). Vertsbergartene er dels epidot- og kloritt-omvandlet. Magnetkis, kobberkis og mindre mengder pyritt opptrer disseminert og i tynne årer innenfor 1-2 m brede, uregelmessige linser i skjerpet. En massiv sulfidsone/- åre som er minst 10 cm mektig finnes også. Denne sonen er også anriket på kobolt.
